ORGANIZER BIO:

Hi, I’m Akilah Sanders-Reed, and I’m 16. I live in the East Mountains, just outside of Albuquerque. I work on the national core team for Kids Vs Global Warming and iMatter, and I am so excited to be organizing here in New Mexico! This is the missing piece of the climate movement, and we’re going to make it happen. But, none of us can do this alone. I am lucky enough to have a great team for this event – MaryVail, Vanessa, Desireee, Carol (my mother!), Chelsea, Dana, Jason, Martha, and Mara. With one exception (guess which), they are all young people who are ready to lead this revolution.

Make sure to bring signs! There are plenty of good sign ideas on this link: http://imattermarch.org/resources/ We’ll have extra sign materials with us in case you don’t have time to make your own. We’ll be sending out emails about some chants to learn, and we just may have some really inspiring special guests at this march! SEE YOU SOON!

ORGANIZER BIO:

Hi! My name is Chelsea Connor and I am a senior in school. This will be my first march, but Im extremely thrilled to be organizing it. I know this is all last minute, but I know we can pull it off easily! I only just recently became an active advocate for a greener future even though I’ve supported it all along. This happened after I went to PowerShift 2011 conference. Seeing everybody’s energy really pumped me up to go green! Hopefully, everyone else will realize how important this topic is and help dedicate some time towards not only our future, but our children’s future.

ORGANIZER BIO:

I’m from Colombia and my mother has always taught me to respect others; she always said “it doesn’t matter if it’s a person, a plant, wind, water or an animal; we all have to be respected.” So, I grew up with that idea. I remember that when I was a kid I would see a broken leaf, I would run to get a bandage and patch it up. Now im proudly the president of the environmental club at Bergen Community College; I also run a fifth graders environmental club called the “Paw Lovers”. It is so important to teach a younger generation how important our environment is. We live here and there is no other Earth so if we don’t take care of it what is going to happened then… This planet belongs to the younger generation and when they grow they will hand it to their younger generation. Overall becoming an environmentalist was a dream when I was a kid, now is a passion and when I get my degrees is going to become my life.

COMMENTS:

Hi, this is Krystina De Caro, organizer of the iMatter March in the Big Bear area. I am calling upon every person in Big Bear to join with me and march in our streets to demand that our survival is considered a top priority. In may 2011 we will be marching for our future. We, as a generation will stand together with a unified voice and let the world know that climate change is not about money, it’s not about power, it’s not short term interest, foreign oil, political agendas, energy efficiencies, or planting trees in our backyard. It is about our survival. Climate change is about the survival of every generation to come. So join me in our city and we will let the ruling generation know that we matter. Krystina and Anthony

My younger brother Anthony De Caro is also a contributor to this cause. Help me help our planet to be a better place for many generations to come. Thank you, Krystina De Caro
